With the 2023 track season underway, five county schools have hit the ground running with solid performances in each of their first two meets at the Covington County Schools Track and Field Facility.
SHS finished first in girls and third in boys at the CCS Meet 1 on Friday, March 3, and both teams earned second place a week later. FHS was first in boys and fifth in girls at the CCS Meet 2 on Friday, March 10.
Last week’s meet also saw Opp, Red Level, and Pleasant Home boys finish third through fifth, respectively. The OHS girls took fourth and were followed by the RLS girls in sixth and PHS girls in seventh.
“Our athletes performed well. We had several first-place winners, and most of the kids got personal records. We are very young but starting to come together as a team. We have a large meet coming up this week with over 20 teams scheduled to come. I invite everyone to come out and support all of our county teams,” Straughn Head Coach John Evers said.
“We are so proud our young ladies and young men. They have really bought into the training and love to compete and support each other. They are such good kids, and we coaches love every minute with them,” Florala Head Coach Jordan Cantrell added.
