LBW holds workshop for military, veterans

LBW Community College held its Military and Veterans College and Career Workshop recently on its MacArthur Campus in Opp.
The event featured speakers from LBW Community College including: LBW President Dr. Brock Kelley, Dean of Student Affairs Jason Jessie, Director of Student Recruitment Heather Owen, Director of Student and Community Engagement Katie King, Director of Student Success Tori Norris, Student Services Coordinator Wendy Johnson, Director of Financial Aid Donna Bass, and Director of Workforce Development Chad Sutton.
College staff highlighted admissions and enrollment information, concurrent enrollment offerings, tutoring and counseling services, apprenticeships, workforce development and continuing education courses, VA benefits, and additional support resources.
A panel discussion was held and guest speakers Nathan Clark of SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program; Mike Warren, Veteran Employment Readiness Coordinator with the Enterprise Career Center; and Brian Foshee, Veterans Service Officer with the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs provided additional information to attendees.
At the event, Wiregrass Resource Conservation and Development made a donation of $50,000 as a sponsor of the program. The WRC&D Council serves Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston, Pike and Russell counties.
