Local favorite Cookies with Characters presented by Meredith’s Miracles will return for its 17th year Saturday, Feb. 25, and Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Covington Center Arena and Kiwanis Building.
“We are excited to be back for the 17th time with more activities and several new characters. The event keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. Our character show will be super exciting this year. We are hoping to have a phenomenal turnout next weekend. We invite everyone to come out and join us for such a popular local attraction that is always a lot of fun,” said Meredith’s Miracles Executive Director Kiley Spears.
The event brought in over $93,000 last year and $77,000 in 2021. Sponsors are still needed this year, which is expected to have approximately 3,000 people in attendance.
“Cookies with Characters is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are hoping to have another huge year because our foundation has grown over the last several years. We have close to 100 medical trips a month that we fund for children to travel to treatments and doctor appointments, and in 2022 alone, we were able to fund 911 medical trips for children,” she added.
Over 90 characters will participate in this year’s festivities with three shows scheduled. Doors open at 11 a.m. for the first Saturday show from noon until 2:30 p.m. and at 4 p.m. for the second Saturday show from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 2 p.m. for the Sunday show from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are available for purchase online at www.cookieswithcharacters.com. Admission includes a show, cookie, and autographs. Activities planned include a meet and greet with characters, a carousel ride, bounce houses, superhero limo rides, horse and carriage rides with princesses, LED toys and autograph books, and plenty of souvenirs for the kids.
All money raised from Cookies with Characters goes toward providing lodging, food, and other travel expenses from a child’s medical journey to specialized healthcare away from home.
