The Opp and Covington County Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2023 Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo Pageant.

The annual pageant is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, at the Opp High School auditorium at 3 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. The rehearsal for the pageant will be Friday, March 3, at 6 and 7 p.m.

“We hope to have many participants in this year’s pageant,” said Opp Chamber of Commerce Director Kelly Brandin.

Applications for the pageant are available at the Opp Chamber office, on the chamber’s website at oppcoc.net, opprattlesnakerodeo.com, the Chamber’s Facebook page, Elan Formalwear, and P&J Formal Country.

The pageant is open to girls ages 6 through 21. Categories include Tiny Miss (6-8 years old), Little Miss (9-11), Junior Miss (12-14), Teen Miss (15-17), and Miss (18- 21). Contestants in the Miss age group must be single and never married.

If a contestant’s birthday is before March 17, 2023, she may elect to be placed in the higher age group. Please inform the pageant director if this option is being selected. Any girl who is a senior, but not yet 18 at the time of the pageant, may compete in the Miss category.

Awards to be presented in each age group include: interview, photogenic, best dressed, best hair and best smile. Winners in each age bracket will receive a crown, sash, flowers and a special gift.

Entry fees are $40 for Tiny Miss and Little Miss contestants, $50 for Junior Miss and Teen Miss, and $100 for Miss.

Contestants in each age bracket may enter the Most Photogenic category, but are not required to participate in the category. An additional $10 fee will be added for those participating in the category. Submitted photos must be a 5×7 head shot only and submitted no later than Friday, March 3.

There is also a $5 additional entry fee for the categories of Best Dress, Best Hair and Best Smile.

All contestants who enter the pageants must be willing to participate in any fundraising activities to promote the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo.
