Mr. Morgan Lee Dewrell, 92, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 23, 11 a.m., at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Brother Tommy Green and Brother Eugene Meadows will officiate. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church of Sanford Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Hudson, Carlton Killingsworth, Casey Shiver, Joe Ptomey, Richard Jackson, and Eddie Edson.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Tim Walker (Sonya) of Andalusia; daughter, Annie Long (Chris) of Andalusia; grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Meagan McDuffie (Devan), Andrew Vidich, Layne Long; great-grandchildren, Christian Walker, Finnleigh Taylor and Audrey Taylor; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margarete Dewrell, and brothers, Norman Dewrell, Clayton Dewrell (Margaret), and James Dewrell (Mary Sue).
Mr. Dewrell served in the U.S. Army, active during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, competing two tours and was injured on his second tour for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a founding member of Covenant Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
