After an extensive search process, the Mizell Memorial Hospital Board of Directors announced that Mitchell Myers would be stepping up to lead Mizell Memorial Hospital as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“I am extremely grateful and blessed to be given this opportunity and look forward to the successful future of Mizell. The healthcare industry is facing many challenges, and I am excited for our team at Mizell to conquer these challenges and establish a very strong and viable future for our organization,” Myers said.
He is a Covington County native and has served in significant leadership roles over the past years at Mizell. Myers is passionate about rural healthcare and establishing stable access to care for underserved citizens.
A 2008 Straughn High School alumnus, Myers is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he received his bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Sciences and minor in Biology. He also received an additional bachelor’s in Nursing and master’s in Nursing from the University of South Alabama. He is being hired to help move Mizell Memorial Hospital forward.
He has a history of being a healthcare leader with great results in employee satisfaction, employee recruitment, clinical collaboration, revenue improvement, and providing quality patient healthcare in a kind, compassionate manner to our community.
“We feel Mr. Myers will be able to establish a positive work environment for all employees and continue to ensure quality healthcare for all patients in order to move Mizell forward in a positive direction. On behalf of the board, we are thankful, pleased and excited to have a proven leader at Mizell Memorial Hospital as our next CEO. Mr. Myers has demonstrated to us he has outstanding and yet practical decision making and problem-solving skills while exhibiting a patient-first caring attitude. He has an excellent professional relationship and reputation with the current staff and employees due primarily to him being a true servant leader. Under Mitchell’s leadership, we expect and anticipate Mizell will continue to improve as we strive to provide quality healthcare in a kind, compassionate, and Christian manner to our community,” said Board Chairman Dr. Jeff Worley.
Mizell Memorial Hospital management partner Alliant Management Services conducted an extensive recruitment process for the CEO position. Alliant Management President/CEO Michael Kozar directed the search and reviewed numerous candidates. The Mizell Memorial Hospital Board of Directors reviewed the final candidates and determined Myers was the best individual to lead the hospital forward in the future. In his position as CEO, Myers will work with the Alliant Leadership team to set strategic and operating goals for the hospital and then determine benchmarks for achieving those goals. Monthly reporting will continue to be given to the Mizell Board of Directors who will continue to review and approve all hospital plans, progress, and budgets.
He will begin transitioning to his new role as the CEO of Mizell Memorial Hospital immediately. Myers is married to his wife of 10 years, Heather, and they have two children: Lora-Leigh and Zeke.
“Mizell is blessed to have an executive who can help tackle the many health care challenges of today and help us navigate the challenges of progressing our rural hospital into the future,” a press release stated.
