An Andalusia man is fighting for his life after suffering multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday night.
Andalusia Police were called to the scene at Foxwood Village Apartments in the Shavertown area of the city after a report of multiple shots being fired. Upon arrival at 9:30 p.m., police found the victim suffering from multiple wounds.
A large presence of law enforcement officers responded and assisted at the scene.
As of Thursday morning, the victim of the shooting has not been identified, but police said he is a black male in his mid-20s, believed to be from Evergreen or Conecuh County. He was sitting in a blue Dodge Charger in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The victim was transported by Advanced EMS to Andalusia Health with life-threatening injuries and later by Lifeflight to another treatment facility.
A suspect was said to have left the scene on foot and is described as a black male wearing dark clothes, possibly a dark blue hoodie or sweatshirt with a light blue hood and black gym-style pants with white stripes and red tennis shoes.
Law enforcement brought in tracking dogs that followed the suspect’s scent to an area where officers believe the suspect may have been picked up by an awaiting vehicle.
Police continued the search for the suspect through the night and analyzing evidence at the scene.
