The Andalusia City Council last week approved its second reimbursement payment involving the renovations of the Prestwood Building in downtown.
The council agreed to pay CDG Engineers and Associates a payment of $296,000 from a bond issue sold this summer.
CDG is planning to place their headquarters on the second floor of the building when renovations are complete. The first floor of the building will include a pizza restaurant, owned and operated by Big Mike’s Mike Cole, as well serving as a new location for Town and Country Boutique, owned by Terri Proctor.
The project is part of a public-private partnership.
The council also approved:
- purchasing a new generator for city hall at a price of $19,485. The building’s current generator is deteriorating, according to officials. The new generator will provide enough power to allow the city to maintain services during outages.
- payment for properties recently worked as part of the city’s weed abatement program.
- approving the purchase of a Kubota tractor from Southern Equipment Company at $48,450.
The next council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18, with a work session at 5:30 p.m. and the regular meeting at 6 p.m.
