County teams travel for region games

Three local football teams had a short week of practice and hit the road for region games Thursday, while one played a rival Friday night as originally scheduled.
Florala (5-1, 3-1 1A Region 2) enjoyed its long road trip to Houston County (0-7, 0-5) with a 27-0 shutout. The Wildcats will host McKenzie on Friday, Oct. 7.
Red Level (3-3, 3-2 1A Region 2) had a difficult time and fell to top-ranked Elba (6-0, 5-0), 42-6. The Tigers are back in action at home against Kinston on Friday, Oct. 7.
Straughn (4-2, 3-1 3A Region 2) went back and forth against Houston Academy (6-0, 4-0) but came up just short, 33-27. The Tigers will welcome New Brockton for senior night Friday, Oct. 7.
Pleasant Home (2-4, 1-3 1A Region 2) could not muster much offense and dropped a tough contest Friday night against Kinston (2-4, 1-3), 47-13. The Eagles will return home to take on Houston County Friday, Oct. 7.
Opp (5-1, 4-0 3A Region 2) had a bye week and travels to Daleville Friday, Oct. 7.
