Andalusia, Florala recognized for sportsmanship

The eighth annual Star Sportsmanship luncheon at the Montgomery Renaissance recognized 65 high schools that were ejection and fine-free for the 2021- 2022 school year Friday, July 22.
Andalusia High School was one of seven schools in Class 5A recognized, and Florala High School was one of 23 schools in Class 1A.
The AHSAA has seen 400 of its member high schools reach the Sportsmanship Status of no fines or ejections 1,555 times since the inception of the program, an average of 103 high schools each year since 2007-08. Middle and junior high schools have been tracked for the last three years with schools reaching that goal 739 times, an average of 246 schools per year.
There were 17 high schools, which earned the Sportsmanship Award this year among the 93 that received the Sportsmanship Banner in the first year of the program in 2007-2008. Class 1A led the way this year with 23 schools. There were 14 schools recognized in Class 4A followed by 10 each in Class 2A and Class 3A. Class 5A had seven schools, and Class 6A had one.
The 65 Sportsmanship Schools being recognized this year have been ejection and fine-free 381 times since 2008.
