Mr. Dempsey Rex “Pete” Hems, age 87, of the Carolina community died Saturday, April 30, 2022, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 3, 11 a.m, at Carolina Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Armstrong and Reverend Garrett Davis officiating. Music is by Kristen Wiggins accompanied by Gary Padgett.

Helms was preceded in death by his parents, Olie and Zonie Helms, and brother Gordon Helms. Interment will follow services at Carolina Cemetery with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Helms is survived by his wife: Shirley Helms of the Carolina community; sisters-in-law: June (Marvin) Sanders, and Martha Helms; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Wiggins family.

Pallbearers will be Ken Helms, Michael Hutto, Judd Fuqua, Russell Wiggins, Jamey Reeves, Brian Fleming, and Dave Morris.
