CCBOE discusses improvements for two schools, handles personnel matters

The Covington County Board of Education discussed improvements at two local schools and made several personnel decisions during a regularly scheduled board meeting Tuesday, April 19.

The board accepted a bid from Wyatt Sasser Construction, LLC for window replacement retrofit for Pleasant Home School at a total bid price of $377,512.00 and another retrofit for Straughn School at a total bid price of $495,523.00.

The board approved the purchase of five buses from Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Agreement a purchase price of $88,996.27 per unit.

  • Judy D. Bracewell as paraprofessional at SHS effective May 27, 2022
  • Teresa Lucas Seay as teacher at W.S. Harlan Elementary School effective May 27, 2022

Employment:

  • Jessica Lea Kelley as intervention teacher at PHS effective at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
  • Ashlynn Nicole Armstrong as elementary teacher at SES effective at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews

In other business, the board discussed the distribution of financial reports that have been reconciled to most current bank statements.

The board tentatively set the next meeting for Tuesday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the central office.
