Mr. Charlie Harris Smithwick, Jr., of Andalusia, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at his residence. He was 87.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2, 11 a.m., at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Keahey Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Martin officiated the service. Interment followed at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Herb Fain and Bill Martin. Pallbearers were Todd Bass, Scotty Bass, Ian Cooper, Tim Cooper, Bill Jennison, Jimmy Riley, Jerry Campbell, and Jose Garcia.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Margaret Martin Smithwick; son, Charlie “Chuck” Harris Smithwick, III (Janelle) of North Carolina; daughters, Jackie Fuqua of Andalusia and Janet F. Cooper (Tim) of Andalusia; Portia Jennison (Bill) of Palatka, Florida; sister, Frances Mizelle of Windsor, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Harris Smithwick, Sr., and Ruth Cobb Smithwick; son, Danny H. Fuqua; sisters, Lois Hardin and Ellen Mizelle.
Mr. Smithwick spent his entire career as a lumber inspector; the couple attended Liberty Home Baptist Church.
Keahey Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
