Andalusia softball to host Lady Dog Bash this weekend

Seven teams will converge at the Andalusia High School softball field for the Lady Dog Bash this weekend.
The tournament will begin with a pool-play format and transition into a single-elimination bracket. All seven teams will be seeded for bracket play based on the following criteria in order: head-to-head for each pool, runs allowed, runs scored, and coin flip.
Andalusia, Straughn, Highland Home, and Pleasant Home will represent Pool A, while Red Level, Luverne, and T.R. Miller will comprise Pool B.
The pool play schedule for Friday, March 18 is as follows:
- Andalusia vs. Straughn, 3 p.m.
- Red Level vs. Luverne, 4:30 p.m.
- Highland Home vs. Pleasant Home, 6 p.m.
- Red Level vs. T.R. Miller, 7:30 p.m.
The pool play schedule for Saturday, March 19 is as follows:
- Andalusia vs. Pleasant Home, 8:30 a.m.
- Luverne vs. T.R. Miller, 10 a.m.
- Straughn vs. Highland Home, 11:30 a.m.
All games will be 70 minutes finish the inning. The home team for each game will be determined by the flip of a coin. Single elimination will follow pool play games starting at 1:30 p.m.
With rain and thunderstorms in the forecast Friday, officials have a backup plan in place.
“If games are rained out Friday, we will move all pool play games to Saturday morning. We will then have the single-elimination bracket for the top two seeds from each pool. We invite everyone to come out and show their support for these young ladies doing what they love,” AHS Head Coach Anthony Mikel said.
