The Covington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence regarding a victim with a gunshot wound Thursday.

Reports indicate the home is located on Country Cross Road near the Okaloosa County line.

“The caller was transferred from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office through the 911 system. Cell phone calls in the area are typically routed through Okaloosa County.  The caller was involved in the incident, and the male subject was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest and was released from the hospital several hours later,” said Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman.

The press release also said investigators executed a search warrant and collected items of evidentiary value.

“The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are being released to maintain the integrity of the investigation,” Turman said.
