Opp City Schools recognized last year’s third and fourth grade students for their scores on the end-of-year standardized assessment last Friday.
“We would also like to recognize all of our OES teachers and staff for giving our students the best educational foundation,” Principal Shawn Short said. “Both of these grades scored above all other schools in our county and the surrounding areas.”
When compared to all 142 schools in the state, fourth grade reading scored in the top 13 percent. Fourth grade math was in the top 8 percent of the state. Third grade math finished in the top 7 percent of the state, and third grade reading was in the top 5 percent.
Short was very proud of his students at Opp Elementary School for their achievements. He said, “This is an amazing accomplishment for our school system. We would like to say thank you to all of our teachers and staff for being the best. We appreciate our parents for their support at home and our students for always giving 100 percent in the classroom.”
Opp Elementary School is located at 27098 Bobcat Drive. For more information contact Principal Shawn Short at sshort@oppboe.com or call 334-493-6031.
