Fleeta School will continue its after-school program thanks to a donation from a local business.
Molded Fiber Glass Companies donated $10,000 to Fleeta School when they learned the program was in jeopardy.
“Fleeta School would like to say thank you to Molded Fiber Glass Companies (MFG) for providing the funding to continue providing after-school support for students during the 2021-2022 school year,” said Fleeta Principal Seth Richards.
With other funding sources concluding by Oct. 1, Fleeta School faced the realization that the extended day program would not be able to continue without outside funding sources.
“Many of our Fleeta parents have relied on the extended day program to assist with day-to-day parent schedules as well as accommodating student learning and daily homework needs,” Richards said.
Sherry Williams, a fourth-grade teacher at Fleeta School, reached out to MFG of Alabama and expressed the need for continued support at the school. MFG of Alabama has provided employment opportunities for the parents and stakeholders of Fleeta School and they were interested in an opportunity to assist the school community.
“MFG proudly reviewed the needs of Fleeta School and willingly stepped up to the plate by generously donating $10,000 to continue funding our program and the staff that serves our students’ families,” Williams said.
The MFG foundation provides funding for charitable projects that benefit the lives of MFG teammates in and around the communities they live and work.
“The faculty, staff, parents, and students of Fleeta would like to thank Kha Tran, general manager of MFG Alabama, and Laura Norris, human resources manager, for presenting our school with this donation to continue offering extended day support for our Fleeta students,” Richards said.
