Opp came away with a big shut-out victory on the road at New Brockton, 27-0, in their first region game of the season.
The Bobcats took control of the game early, scoring 10 points in the first quarter and added another 14 to take a 24-0 lead into halftime. The only score of the second half came courtesy of a 47-yard field goal by senior Jackson Pierce.
They added a field goal in the third to wrap up the night’s scoring.
Bobcat Head Coach Mike Dubose was pleased with his team’s improvement over the past week.
“We need to play and we needed to play well. We still made some mistakes, but overall our players did a good job in all three facets of the game,” Dubose said.
“Our defense played well and gave us good field position. They did sustain a drive on us late in the game, but we were able to hold them on fourth down. It was a big win and an important win for us.”
Opp (2-1, 1-0) will have its first home game next week against Houston Academy (2-1, 1-0) in a region contest.
