With over 2,600 nominations, the Andalusia Star-News’ 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards is ready to enter a new and exciting stage — the voting round.

After three weeks of nominations the finalists are determined for the voting round set to begin August 2, 11 a.m., at andalusiastarnews.com/contests. The voting round will continue for three weeks to determine local favorites in a wide assortment of categories. Each category will feature up to five nominees depending on the number of nominations received. The winners will be announced in a special publication in September.

The annual contest was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic, but it is back and stronger than ever with an all new digital format.

“The Readers’ Choice Awards is a great way to recognize our local businesses, individuals, and organizations who go above and beyond for their customers and our community,” said Star-News Publisher Robert Blankenship. “Our new digital format allows for even more involvement as readers can access the ballot from their laptop, cell phone or tablet.”

Once open, readers can access the ballot online and begin voting. The initial vote will require a name and email address as voting is limited to once per day.

“We are very excited to share this new digital version of Readers’ Choice and congratulations to each of those receiving  nominations to move forward to the voting round. We are excited about this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards and look forward to having even more contests in the coming year,” Blankenship said.
