The Covington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident involving shots fired early Tuesday morning, resulting in one arrest.
Travis Michael Blocker, 38, was arrested and booked into the Covington County jail charged with third degree domestic violence, menacing with a weapon, and interfering with a domestic violence emergency call.
According to the CCSO, the shots were fired outdoors and were not directed toward an individual. Blocker and another resident at the home had been arguing, said CCSO Chief Deputy Todd Grimes.
Deputies responded to a call of a domestic situation with shots fired near the intersection of Robin Road and Antioch Road at approximately 6 a.m. During the 911 call, the operator also heard shots being fired in the background.
Deputies arrived on the scene and determined there were no injuries and began searching for the suspect.
“Deputies secured the area and our beagle tracking team was brought in and did a great job in leading us to the suspect,” said Sheriff Blake Turman.
Blocker was located hiding under a fallen tree about 50 yards into the woods adjacent to his home.
“We were able to track him down quickly. He was still armed when we found him, but he did not resist and was taken into custody without incident,” Grimes said.
