An investigation is underway after a body was discovered in a wooded area of Andalusia Tuesday.

According to Andalusia Police Chief, law enforcement received a call about mid-day Tuesday regarding shots fired in the area of Whatley Street. Upon interviewing possible witnesses in the area, police recovered a body that was placed in the woods off of Whatley Street and near S. Cotton Street.

Hudson said the department has opened a death investigation and that the State Bureau of Investigation will be assisting.
