First game:

Florala – 2

Red Level – 1

The Florala High School varsity baseball team stole the lead late in the game in a 2-1 victory over Red Level on Thursday.

The game was tied at one with the Wildcats batting in the top of the eighth when Wyatt Brooks doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Florala pitchers struck out 17, while Red Level pitchers sat down 17.

The Wildcats opened up scoring in the second inning. Colby Strickland drew a walk, scoring one run.

Red Level knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fifth inning. Parker Adams drove in one when Adams singled.

Dixon Drakkar toed the rubber for The Wildcats. Drakkar allowed two hits and one run over four and a third innings, striking out eight.

Tucker Livings was on the pitcher’s mound for Red Level. He allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 14. Adams threw one inning in relief.

Kennith Dalton Jackson led The Wildcats with four hits in four at bats. Florala was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Judd Goolsby made the most plays with 15.

Red Level was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Adams had the most chances in the field with 14.

Second game:

Florala – 6

Red Level – 10

The Red Level High School varsity baseball team came out with the win in the second game on Thursday, 10-6.

Red Level scored on a single by Tucker Livings in the first inning, a groundout by Javen Poindexter in the first inning, a single by Parker Adams in the second inning, and a single by Livings in the second inning.

Despite the loss, The Wildcats did collect five hits in the high-scoring affair. Red Level had six hits on the way to victory.

In the first inning, Red Level got their offense started when Livings singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

The Wildcats notched three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was driven by a walk by Rayshon Coleman, by Judd Goolsby, and a double by John Howell.

Red Level scored four runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Red Level was led by Adams, Livings, and Brett Jordan, all driving in runs in the frame.

Kye Wright was the winning pitcher for Red Level. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over three and a third innings, striking out four.

Goolsby took the loss for the Wildcats. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out six.

Adams started the game for Red Level. He allowed zero hits and three runs over three and a third innings, striking out four

Goolsby went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead The Wildcats in hits.

Livings led Red Level with two hits in four at bats. Red Level stole 14 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Kennith Huckabaa led the way with five. Red Level was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Zavier Phillips had the most chances in the field with nine.

With the wins and losses, Florala’s record is 1-1 and RLHS’ record is 4-1.
