Book characters jumped off the page Friday for the Andalusia Elementary School Book Character Parade. Students and teachers dressed up as characters from their favorite books and paraded around the front drive of the campus. The event was the finale to Read Across America Week, which is held each year in conjunction with the birthday of Ted Geisel, better known as children’s author Dr. Suess. He was born on March 2, 1904 and went on to write beloved classics like “The Cat in the Hat,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” and many, many others.
