AHS baseball and softball split on Thursday

Baseball game:
Andalusia – 1
T.R. Miller – 2
The Andalusia varsity baseball team could not hold on against T.R. Miller Thursday night, 2-1.
Both teams were strong on the mound on Thursday, but T.R. Miller was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over the Andalusia Bulldogs varsity baseball team on Thursday.
Chip Morgan started the game for the Bulldogs and recorded 15 outs.
B Jernigan was on the pitcher’s mound for T.R. Miller. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out ten.
Morgan went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out nine and walking one. Aksh Patel threw two innings in relief.
Morgan, Ayden Amis, and Jake Wilson each collected one hit to lead the Bulldogs.
T.R. Miller was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. W. Brittain made the most plays with ten.
With the loss, the Bulldogs are now 6-2.
Softball game:
Andalusia – 11
Charles Henderson – 1
The Andalusia High School varsity softball dominated Charles Henderson Thursday night, 11-1.
11 runs in the first inning led Andalusia Bulldogs varsity softball team past Charles Henderson 11-1 on Thursday.
The offensive onslaught by the Lady Bulldogs was led by Ashlee Findley, Amanda Majors, Erin Riley, Maddie O’Connor, Payton Burden, and Mollie Furr, who all drove in runs.
The Lady Bulldogs got things moving in the first inning when Findley doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Sydney Ray led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Andalusia. The lefthander lasted five innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out eight.
The Lady Bulldogs smacked one home run on the day. Majors put one out in the first inning.
Andalusia totaled 11 hits. Furr and Ray each managed multiple hits. Furr went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Bulldogs in hits.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 4-5.
