Opp City Schools and Opp High School are proud to announce that former Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Mike Dubose has agreed to become the next Head Football Coach at Opp High School.
“Although he has been with us for the past two seasons as an assistant, this marks a new chapter for Coach and Bobcat Football,” the school system posted on Facebook. “Please join us in welcoming Coach Dubose and Mrs. Polly as we embark on this new era of Bobcat Football.”
DuBose coached Alabama for four years from 1997-2000, finishing with a 24-23 record and two bowl losses. He was named SEC coach of the year in 1999 when his team won the conference title, reached as high as No. 5 in the AP poll before finishing 10-3.
After Alabama, DuBose coached at a few colleges and high schools. He was the head coach at Division III Millsaps College in Mississippi (2006-09) and coached the defensive line at Memphis from 2009-11. DuBose resigned as Luverne High School’s head coach in 2015.
