Mrs. Martha Jeanette Huggins Pierce, age 88, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, January 22, 2021, at Flowers Hospital.

Private Graveside services for the family only were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Cedar Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Andalusia with Minister Chris Jones officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Christian Youth Camp, P.O. Box 311072, Enterprise, AL, 36331 or to Westgate Christian School, 617 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL, 36303.

Mrs. Pierce was born on July 21, 1932 in Andalusia the daughter of Samuel D. Huggins and Martha Vera Garrett Huggins.  She graduated from Montgomery Bible High School in 1950.  Mrs. Pierce moved to Dothan in 1969 where she operated a Daycare then served as the first Daycare Director at Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery.  She was a member of Westgate Church of Christ and loved her family and her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Lloyd Pierce; grandson, Gabriel Pierce; 3 brothers, Bill, Horace and Farris Huggins.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Jayne Pierce Johnson (Tim), Nashville, TN; Jill Pierce Burkhalter, Dothan; 2 sons, Terry Pierce (Beth) and Harold Wayne Pierce (Lisa), both of Dothan; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to her caregivers, Rhonda Vancil, Sharon Hughes and Dorothy Blackmon.  They would also like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Doug Jackson and Tammy Jones for their care.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
