The South Alabama Gun Club will be hosting the 37th Annual Gun and Knife Show on August 15 and 16. Gun show chairman Pete Stone explained what the show has to offer this year.

“We put the show once a year and it’s our fundraiser for the year. We’re going to have about 185 tables of guns or ammo or knives,” Stone said. “We will have approximately 5 custom knife makers there and we will have the guy back from Alabama Ammo who sells reloading supplies and ammunition products.”

The show is introducing a new vendor this year that will assist people who need their knives sharpened.

“We will also have something we haven’t had in a few years, a gentleman who will sharpen your knives,” Stone said. “So, if you have a hunting knife or your wife has a set of knives at home that need to be sharpened, he will sharpen them for you.”

Stone explained that there will be products for sale, as well as for trade at the show. “There will be holsters, reloading supplies, and a large display of optics this year from a vendor that is coming in. Obviously they will be for sale or trade,” Stone said. “They like to sell and purchase guns, so if anyone wants to upgrade their knives or guns or if people are interested, bring them out and see if you can trade it up.”

Event-goers can bring their guns to the show for trading, according to Stone.

“Once they enter our building we will have a weapon check station where all weapons will be secured before entering the building. We encourage people to bring them unloaded and security measures will be in place,” Stone said. “Other than that, there are no restrictions and they can trade, however.”

There will be various guns and knives on display during the event.

“We will have antique guns on display at the show. We will also have some guns and custom knives on display.”

Facemasks will be available for purchase at the event, but Stone encourages everyone to bring their own.

“We will enforce wearing masks and some will be available, but they will be for sale for $1 each,” Stone said. “We also ask that everyone respect separation and social distancing.”

Stone encourages everyone to attend the event and support the South Alabama Gun Club. “We will have food and refreshments on-site and we invite everyone to come out, support the club, and have a good time preparing for hunting season. Gun shows are popular right now and we hope to have a successful show and a lot of support.”

The 37th Annual Gun and Knife Show will be open to the public from 9 a.m., to 5 p.m., on Saturday, August 15, and from 11 a.m., until 4 p.m., on Sun., August 16. Tickets will be $5 per person. Children 12 and under do not need a ticket, but they must be accompanied by an adult. The event will be at the Kiwanis Center in Andalusia.
