The city of Andalusia is preparing for another year of youth soccer. Registration began on August 1 and will end on August 15.

Program Coordinator Courtney Lipford encourages everyone ages four through 18 to register.

“I know with the season coming up we hope to have a better season,” Lipford said. “We still aren’t sure about all of the social distancing and sanitizing, but we will hear more about that soon. We are an ARPA section, so we are waiting on the ARPA to let us know how we are going to do the sanitation and all of that.”

Ability ratings will take place at the Kiwanis Sports Complex at 5:30 pm on August 24.

“We will have ability ratings, or tryouts, for ages nine and up,” Lipford said. “Ages nine through 10 will be on field three and ages 11 through 18 will be on the big soccer field.”

If anyone is unable to attend the tryouts, they can still participate.

“People who don’t come to the ability ratings will get a call from their coaches to let them know of practices and schedules,” Lipford said.

There are four age divisions ranging from ages four to 18, said Lipford. The registration fees are $35 for one child, $55 for two, and $75 for three or more children.

Lipford asks that everyone brings a face mask to comply with state orders. The deadline to register is August 15. Visit Johnson Park or the city’s website, www.cityofandalusia.com, to register.
