After being serviced by a branch out of Fort Walton, Florida for fifteen years, Andalusia now has its own branch of Coast Supply.

Assistant manager Phillip McClung explained what the new business has to offer to Andalusia.

The company is based out of Florida and has many branches throughout the state. “We are part of Coast Pump Watertech based in Venice, Florida,” McClung said. “The Fort Walton branch has been servicing Andalusia for 15 years.”

The Andalusia branch of Coast Supply had been in the works since January of this year according to McClung.

“We have been renovating since last January and have been open for business since March,” McClung said.

By the time the business first opened, the COVID-19 pandemic hit Alabama.

“It was kind of disheartening,” McClung said. “We were excited to finally open when everything fell through the cracks.”

Due to the virus and local businesses closing, the business faced a few challenges early on. Regardless of the challenges, McClung remains optimistic about the future of Coast Supply.

“We had a slow start, but consumer confidence is picking up and people are going out again,” McClung said. “It keeps us optimistic.”

Coast Supply is known for electrical, irrigation, plumbing, water systems, and water treatment.

“Traditionally we are a water well drilling industry,” McClung said. “We offer wholesale to contractors but we also retail to general consumers. We branch out and can do anything that has to do with moving water. On site pumps, piping, septic filtering, natural water, whole house infiltration, plumbing, and electrical irrigation.”

McClung said the business is being led by three people as of now.

“Bruce Stinson is the manager, I am the assistant manager, and Richard Hammett covers the outside sales,” McClung said.

McClung hopes to hold a grand opening for Coast Supply in July. Due to COVID-19, the original grand opening was postponed.

“We had intentions for a grand opening on May 15th, but we had to postpone. Now we are planning it for July.”

Although no plans are certain, McClung hopes the grand opening can still happen. “We hope to have a trade show and all of our vendors come in,” McClung said. “Now we are trying to pin down a day in July.”
