The annual Mizell Gala has been canceled this year due to COVID-19.
Melinda Hall, chairperson of the Mizell Foundation, released a letter Thursday confirming.
“It is with great sadness the MMH Foundation Board has decided to cancel this year’s annual Gala,” she said. “We have agonized over different options, but as the event time draws near, we feel there is still too much uncertainty to proceed this year.
Hall said organizers plan to prepare for the 2021 Gala in the next few months.
“Contributions received for the 2020 Gala will be credited to the 2021 Gala sponsorship,” she said. “We greatly appreciate the support for this event each year. We also appreciate the support for Mizell and our Mizell family over the last few months. As stressful as this time has been for health care, Mizell has received a wonderful outpouring of love and support in so many ways from many of you and others in our community. We are certainly blessed. Please continue to pray for our Mizell staff, our physicians, our board of directors, and especially for our patients and their families.”
