An Andalusia woman is facing five counts of rape second degree for her alleged involvement in a reported sexual assault of a 15-year-old in her home, according to Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson.
Lydia Ann Redmon, 38, is being held in the Covington County Jail and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
According to Alabama law, a person commits the crime of rape in the second degree if:
(1) 16 years old or older, he or she engages in sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex less than 16 and more than 12 years old; provided, however, the actor is at least two years older than the member of the opposite sex.
(2) he or she engages in sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex who is incapable of consent by reason of being mentally defective.
(b) rape in the second degree is a Class B felony.
If convicted, Redmon could face two to 20 years in prison and fines up to $30,000.
Hudson asked that anyone with information regarding this ongoing investigation to call Andalusia Police Department investigator Zak Wallace at 334-222-1155.
