The Holiday Inn Express in Andalusia is getting a complete renovation starting this week.

Manager Kim Jenkins said the entire inside of the hotel will be gutted and restored.

“Every 10 years, we undergo a renovation,” Jenkins said. “This will be our 11th year, so it is time. We are going to start work on the third floor to keep the bottom open for our clients, but eventually everything will be removed.”

Jenkins said the inside of the newly renovated hotel will look completely different.

“The carpet is going to be replaced and we are going to have all new tiling,” Jenkins said. “There will be a more modern look to everything. The furniture will also be moved out and replaced.”

With the renovation, Jenkins said once it gets to the first floor and lobby, she will start getting a little nervous.

“I am very excited for the renovation,” Jenkins said. “I am just a little nervous when it gets down to the lobby because everything is going out.”

When the renovations start, Holiday Inn and Express will go down to 40 rooms instead of 68, but Jenkins wants to make sure that everyone knows its cooperate clients will come first.

“Our cooperate clients are going to be the ones that have the first pick of those 40 rooms,” Jenkins said. “We have a lot of people that are working on the SHAW expansion, and they have been great to us. So, we need to take care of them. The only thing that this renovation will affect is the beach traffic, which is unfortunate, but we have worked out something with Best Western to make sure that they are housed properly.”

Jenkins expects the renovation to be complete by late June or early July.
