It’s that special time of year, and the Andalusia Area Humane Society is kicking the season off with “Pawliday 2019.”
The holiday celebration fundraiser is set for Sat., Nov. 23, from 9 a.m., until 1 p.m., at AAHS located at 411 Pearl Street.
“There is going to be something for everyone and it’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit,” AAHS board member Debra Evans said. “All of the proceeds benefit the AAHS county-wide low-cost spay and neuter program.”
The fun begins at 9:30 a.m. with a “Strut Your Mutt Costume Contest.” Those participating in the contest are asked to arrive for sign-up by 9 a.m., and to bring a pet food donation for the Andalusia Animal Shelter to enter.
Pet photos with Santa begin at 10 a.m., and last until noon. There is a minimum $5 donation to the spay/neuter for pet photos.
In addition to photos with Santa, there is a photo setting available in the adjacent Estep Dog Park for those who would like to take fall photos. There is no charge for the DIY fall photos, but all donations are welcomed.
“We will have a Holiday Bazaar featuring both new and pre-loved items,” said Evans. “There will also be a bake sale, door prizes, a raffle, an ‘Ask the Vet’ booth, Andalusia Animal Shelter pet adoptions and much more.”
Refreshments including hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be available.
“We are excited about all the things we have planned for our Pawliday,” said Evans. “We are also excited about the county-wide low-cost spay/neuter program that this event benefits.”
The AAHS also holds a 2nd Saturday Rummage Sale each month and accepts donations from the public for that sale.
“We hope everyone will come out and help us kick off the holidays with this fun event,” said Evans. “For those who aren’t able to attend but would like to support our work, monetary donations, as well as donations for our rummage sale, are always appreciated.
