Local landlords and homeowners who are currently involved or considering participating in the Section 8 housing program, the Opp Housing Authority is looking you.
Housing Authority Director Beverly Bell-Barber said there will be a Section 8 landlord meeting to reach owners to encourage participation in Section 8 housing.
OHA is in charge of all Section 8 housing in Covington County.
“All current landlords and prospective landlords are invited to attend,” she said.
Bell-Barber said she encourages participating from property owners with suitable units located outside of areas of low income or minority concentration.
During the meeting, those in attendance will receive information on how to participate as a landlord in the program and current landlords will receive upgraded information on how to continue being a part of the program.
The Section 8 program is also known as the Housing Choice Voucher Program in which low-income families receive vouchers to help pay for housing.
The session will be Tues., Oct. 22, at 5:30 p.m., at the J.T. Benson Community Building, located at 813 Barnes Street in Opp.
The building is across the street from OHA’s apartments.
Dinner will be served.
Those who are interested must RSVP by Oct. 20.
Please call OHA for more information at 334-493-9741 or TDD at 800-548-2546.
