The Andalusia Ballet will now offer a Mommy and Me Creative Movement Class for six weeks this fall.

Addie Gantt with the ballet said she came up with the idea as a way to get more moms and children connected.

“This class will basically just be building a community for moms and young families,” Gantt said. “Also supporting children’s developmental milestones as they go through the zero to four-year-old range. It has creative expression, exploration and stuff like that.”

Gantt participated in a similar group while she was in graduate school and thought that the community would benefit from it.

“We have done it here in Andalusia before,” Gantt said. “But we haven’t done it recently. It is definitely a trending thing right now.”

The program will start November 1, and last for six weeks until December 13. It will be every Friday from 9:30 a.m., until 10:30 a.m.

The cost will be $70 for the entire session.

“The class isn’t ballet,” Gantt said. “It is creative movement completely. It will have a balance of structure and exploration. We have exercise balls, shakers, several props, mats where they can learn rolls, trampolines and parachutes. We have tons of stuff that can keep them entertained and moving.”
