After a long and hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s, Merle Stephens Hill, age 84, formerly of Andalusia, passed away peacefully on Sun., Sept. 29, 2019, at her home in Montgomery, Ala., surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 65 years, Bobby Hugh Hill, who was her primary caregiver throughout her illness, her daughter Melodee Hill Robinson of Hoover, Ala., her son, Chip Hill and daughter-in-law Robin Jenkins Hill of Montgomery, Ala., but her pride and joy were her two beautiful granddaughters, Merelee Elizabeth Robinson of Birmingham, Ala., and Linda Elizabeth Hill of Montgomery, Ala. She is also survived by two sisters, June and Brenda, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. D.S. (Doc) Stephens and Lila Elizabeth Jay Stephens, and one brother.

A memorial service was held on Wed., Oct. 2, 2019, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Billy Boles and Brother Bobby Morgan officiating, with special graveside prayer by nephew Kenny Hill.

Pallbearers were Chip Hill, and nephews: Danny Posey, Kenny Hill, and Mark Hill.

She was a long-time member of Adellum Baptist Church so please make any memorial donations on behalf of our mom to Adellum’s Building Fund, if you feel led to do so.

Lastly, we would like to offer a very special note of thanks to Dr. Caleb Yongkuma, and our dear friend and true angel of mercy, Jennifer Clem, for being our source for everything we’ve needed during all these years. There aren’t enough words or space to properly thank you for all you’ve done for us or to tell you what you mean to us. We love you very much!
