PREPARING FOR THE BATTLE: Straughn readies to clash with Geneva

The Straughn Tigers (1-5, 1-2) look to shake off recent struggles as they prepare to host the Geneva Panthers (3-2, 1-2) on Friday in Straughn.
Straughn has put up strong efforts in each game this year, but have only been able to pull out one win through six games.
The Tigers still have plenty of games left and still have the opportunity to make the playoffs.
In the first week of the season, the Tigers took on a strong Class 4A Headland team.
The Rams went on to beat the Tigers 42-14.
Things didn’t get any easier then next week as they went up against Class 3A powerhouse St. James.
St. James beat Straughn 42-19.
The Tigers opened up region play the following week with a road trip to Opp.
Straughn started the game off with authority as they quickly picked off two passes from the Bobcats.
The Tigers went on to score first, but Opp was able to rally for a 35-12 victory.
The next week Straughn put up another tough battle against region opponent Slocomb, but Slocomb was able to come away with a 28-13 win.
The Tigers got their first win of the season the next week when they knocked off Houston Academy 21-14 in a region game in Dothan.
Last week, Straughn hosted Daleville for homecoming, but Daleville was able to pick up a 50-35 victory.
Straughn returns to region play on Friday when they host the Geneva Panthers.
Straughn has scored 114 points this season and has given up 211 points.
The Tigers are 0-2 this season at home.
Geneva holds a 6-4 record against the Tigers.
Straughn won last year’s contest 27-14.
Geneva won the 2017 contest by a score of 14-0.
In 2016, Geneva topped Straughn by a score of 28-12.
Geneva has scored 153 points this season and has given up 152 points.
Geneva has a 1-1 record on the road this season.
Straughn and Geneva have played one common opponent so far this season.
Opp beat Straughn 35-12 and Geneva beat Opp 56-43.
Straughn and Geneva are set for a 7 p.m., kickoff on Friday in Straughn.
