The Florala Wildcats (3-3) picked up a 47-20 road win over the Houston Academy Raiders on Friday night in Dothan.
“I thought our kids showed a lot of character tonight,” Florala head coach Toby Greene said. “We got off to a great start and then got a little sluggish. We challenged them a bit at halftime and the came out in the second half and showed what they are made of. They showed what Florala football is all about.”
Florala opened up the game with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Logan West to Rashaad Coleman.
The Wildcats took a two-score lead on a 15-yard run from West.
Florala continued to pour on the scoring early and Austin Howell hauled in a touchdown pass from West to put the Wildcats up 20-0.
The Raiders then battled their way back into the game and tied it 20-20 going into halftime.
In the second half, it was all Wildcats as the Florala defense pitched a shutout and the offense carved up the Raiders for an additional 27 points.
West continued his solid passing performance with a touchdown throw to Anthone Stone.
The Florala offense continued to explode as West rushed in for a long touchdown.
West was having himself a game as he followed with a 27-yard touchdown run.
Duke Flowers added a touchdown off of a recovered fumble.
Coleman also had two interceptions for the Wildcats.
West was 5-for-7 on extra points.
“I was pleased with our adjustments,” Greene said. “We played with more emotion and we carried on through adversity.”
