A Pensacola woman is dead after a high-speed chase ended in Gantt Friday night.
State Troopers say Tammy Katrina White, 39, of Pensacola was killed with then 2007 Chevrolet Impala she was driving left the roadway and overturned.
Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman said the Impala had been reported stolen out of Escambia County, Fla.
White was allegedly running from police and lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and barrel-rolled through a drainage ditch with a steep embankment.
She was airlifted to Montgomery but succumbed to her injuries while en route.
Turman said the chase hit speeds in excess of 100 mph.
State Troopers led the chase with the assistance from Covington County Sheriff’s Department.
Spike strips were used and deployed. White was not wearing a seat belt.
State Troopers continue to investigate the incident.
