The future of the Pleasant Home Eagles looks bright after a big weekend from their youth football league.
“We held our jamboree this weekend,” Marcus Laster said. “We hosted McKenzie and the Red Level Tigers.”
The Eagles began the day against the Mckenzie Tigers.
“We started off the hot day playing McKenzie’s tiny mites,” Laster said. “We lost that game 8-0.”
Following the loss to McKenzie, the Eagles pulled out a win against Red Level.
“Then we took the field against the Red Level tiny mites,” Laster said. “It turned out to be a competitive game in which we got the win, 14-6.”
The win was big for the tiny mite Eagles, Laster said.
“This was the first time the tiny mite Eagles have won a game in the last six years,” Laster said. “Even though it was only a jamboree, this was a huge turn around for our program. It finally gave the kids some excitement and has pumped them up.”
In the 14-6 win over the Tigers, Pleasant Home had big plays from several players.
Parker Mullen scored the first touchdown of the day for the Eagles.
Tyrone Stallworth sealed the win with a long touchdown run in the final minutes of the game.
Several other players made big stops, blocks and other things to help propel the Eagles to a 14-6 win.
“I just want to say how proud I am of all of our teams,” Laster said. “The termite team played very competitive and did an amazing job as well, but this is a huge for us to finally get a win even if it was only a small win. Coaches Jermaine Robertson, Scotty Smith and Malik Parker have these kids playing hard and wanting to win. That’s a big deal for this program to end a six-year drought.”
