The Lower Alabama Arts Coalition was pleased to present Stella Miles with a $500 scholarship on Aug. 6, 2019.
Miles attended Andalusia High School in 2017 and 2018 and graduated from Enterprise High School in 2019.
She was recently one of the young artists featured in the LAAC Rising Stars art show held in July 2019 at the LAAC.
Miles said she enjoys creating with colored pencil and digital artwork platforms.
She attended the Long Island Academy of Fine Art, in Long Island, Nay in the summers of 2017 and 2018, which she said really helped her developmentally as an artist and gave her the foundation of a really strong portfolio for college.
She was a 2019 southeast region scholastic art gold key winner and was awarded a Mabel Amos Scholarship.
While still attending high school, Stella was commissioned to create a digital art piece used as the book cover artwork for Sanity Behind Bars a book by Maria Isabel Arbelaez Muñoz.
Miles plans to attend Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI, and will be pursuing a film/animation bachelor of fine arts (BFA) and hopes to pursue a career in creating 3D animated films.
“Stella is such a talented artist,” LAAC board member Jeanni Sanders said. “And so appreciative of all of the support she has received from the community as she has pursued her dream of becoming a professional artist.”
