The Opp 12U All-Stars put up a strong fight, but came up short in a tournament this weekend in Dothan.

850 SELECT 3,

OPP 2

In the first game of the tournament, the early runs led the 850 Select to a 3-2 victory over Opp.

Opp got on the board first with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first inning.

The Opp lead didn’t hold up long as the 850 Select rallied back in the bottom of the first inning.

A pair of walks and a single loaded the bases for the 850 Select with no outs.

The 850 Select tied the game with a hit batter and an error.

With one out in the inning, the 850 Select drew another walk to go up 3-2.

Grady Patterson drew a walk to start the top of the second inning.

Patterson wasn’t on first for long as he swiped second base on the first pitch to A.C. Hightower.

However, Patterson then tried to steal third base, but was thrown out for the final out of the frame.

In the bottom of the second, the first batter hit a hard ball to Hightower at first, but Hightower snagged the line drive and walked it over to first for the first out.

Opp then got a big strikeout and fly out to end the inning.

Pitching for both teams ramped up and didn’t allow another run in the game.

The 850 Select were able to hold on for a 3-2 win.

OPP 0

In the second game of the day, 5-Star National came away with a 14-0 win over Opp.

After the end of one-half inning, 5-Star National was up 4-0.

Day and Patterson drew walks to start the bottom of the first inning.

Day moved to third on a one-out single from Landon Langley, but then a double play ended the frame.

5-Star National continued to tack on to their lead as they pulled away for a 14-0 win.
