Finding meaning in our world now

The world is so connected now, but it is not really that connected in ways that matter. We live in a global age where opinions can be put on line in a heart beat, but out of the noise we need to re- discover what is eternal. Do you know the eternal nature of what is true in your life? Or are you living from one moment to the next without meaning and stress? “ All that is not eternal is eternally out of date.” CS Lewis
One of my favorite authors said it this way, “ O Lord, I know now that it is in silence, in a quiet moment, in a forgotten corner that you will meet me, call me by name and speak to me a word of peace. It is in my stillest hour that you become the risen Lord to me.” Henri Nouwen
Somehow we have so many distractions in our world—that we are not focused on what is good and true any longer! We listen to others and get angry, or we lose our patience and as we feel too much stress. I love what it says in the older Anglican prayer book before reception of the Holy Communion from the Bible (called the Comfortable Words), “ Hear what comfortable words our Saviour Christ saith unto all who truly turn to Him,’ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavey laden, and I will give you rest.’ “ Matthew 11:28
My life verse is, “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. “ Proverbs 3:5-6 Sometimes we have to just step out in faith knowing that God will do all things for our good and His glory. We are not meant to know what the future is, but we know who holds the future.
What has been bothering you lately that you have been so upset and tired? Is there a rest for these things? There is and that is the everlasting arms of God in whom we can find peace and joy through His Son Jesus.
Our problem is that we do not apply the words that I have quoted above. We live in the ordinary , but need to find out what God is telling us through His extraordinary means of grace and love through the Bible, the people of God, and His beautiful creation .
