Atlanta looks to grow division lead before All-Star break

The Atlanta Braves reached 50 wins on Saturday, which was the fastest the team has gotten to 50 wins since 2003 and look to extend their division lead before next week’s All-Star break.

With six games left before the All-Star break, the Braves hold a 5.5 game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Braves and Phillies will start a three-game series tonight in Atlanta.

Atlanta won 2-of-3 in the last series in Philadelphia, but the Phillies swept the Braves in three games to open the season.

Following the series with the Phillies, the Braves will stay at home for a three-game series with the Miami Marlins before the All-Star break.

Speaking of the All-Break, Braves’ rookie starting pitcher Mike Soroka was announced to the 2019 National League All-Star team.

He joins Ronald Acuna Jr., Freddie Freeman and manager Brian Snitker on the NL All-Star roster.

Freeman is having one of the best halves of a season in his career.

The four-time All-Star leads the Braves with in with a .312 batting average, 22 home runs, 65 home runs, a .399 on-base percentage and 104 hits.

If Freeman continues this pace, he could break his career best home run mark of 34 set in 2016 and RBIs at 109 set in 2013.
