CHASING DOWN THE TITLE: Andy 10U earns spot in championship game

The Andalusia 10U All-Stars earned a spot in the district tournament championship in Troy.
GAME ONE
ANDALUSIA 12,
GENEVA 10
Andalusia used a late rally in the first game of the tournament to knock off Geneva 12-10.
Geneva went up 4-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
In the top of the second inning, William Grimes made his way all the way around the bags for inside-the-park-home-run to get Andalusia on the board.
Carmello Hill doubled with two outs in the top of the third inning and then moved to third on a single from Grover Wells.
Hill came around to score when Bryaden Jones reached off of an error.
Geneva increased their lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the third inning.
Jayden Smith singled to start the top of the fourth and moved to second when Sawyer Hardy drew a walk.
Grimes loaded the bases when he reached off of an error.
Brayden Ware then drove in a run off of an error.
A fielder’s choice off of the bat of Landon Butler drove in Hardy, as Andalusia made the score 7-4.
In the bottom of the fourth, Butler retired the Geneva batters in order.
Bailey Watts reached off of an error to start the top of the fifth inning.
Wells then came through with a one-out triple to make the score 7-5.
Andalusia kept the rally going with a single from Jones that plated Wells.
Jones moved to second on a sacrifice from Asher Bentley and then to third on a wild pitch.
Jaden Smithart then tied the game with an infield single.
Andalusia loaded the bases with singles from Hardy and Grimes before a walk to Ware put them up 8-7.
After a run scored on a wild pitch, Butler ripped a single up the middle that gave Andalusia a 10-7 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Watts scored on a fielder’s choice from Hill.
Jones then drove in Wells to put Andalusia up 12-8.
Andalusia held on for a 12-10 win to move on to the winners’ bracket.
GAME TWO
TROY 15,
ANDALUSIA 0
In the second game of the day, Andalusia got beat 15-0 by Troy.
Troy scored early and often as they ran away to a 15-0 win.
Hardy and Jones picked up the only two hits for Andalusia.
GAME THREE
ANDALUSIA 8,
ENTERPRISE 0
Andalusia got back in the win column with an 8-0 win over Enterprise.
Andalusia scored first in the bottom of the first inning when Smithart drove in Jones and Hardy with a single.
In the bottom of the second inning, Bentley scored on a wild pitch and Barker German stole home to put Andalusia up 4-0.
Butler stayed strong on the mound as he kept Enterprise scoreless.
Grimes walked to start the bottom of the fourth. Grimes stole second and third before scoring on a single from Ware.
Andalusia finished off the scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Hardy drove in Wells to put Andalusia up 8-0.
GAME FOUR
ANDALUSIA 3, GREENVILLE 0
Andalusia earned a spot in the championship game after winning a 3-0 game against Greenville.
Bentley was on top of his game as he allowed just one hit in a six-inning shutout.
Andalusia got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Hardy drove in Wells.
Smithart followed with a double to put Andalusia up 2-0.
Bentley drove in Ware in the bottom of the fifth inning for the final run.
Bentley struck out eight batters in the win.
Andalusia will take on Troy tonight at 7:30 p.m., in the district championship game.
