Meredith’s Miracles working on new location

A host of young volunteers braved 100-degree weather to help Meredith’s Miracles move donated retail units and shelving into its new location on South Three Notch Street Tuesday.

Executive Director Kiley Spears said John Tisdale and Ben Tisdale donated retail display units and shelving that the charity could only dream of owning.

“John has always been so generous to us,” Spears said. “For years, he donated space for our Valentine Store, and now he is helping us with our new facility.

Spears said the teens who helped with the moving on Tuesday really had no idea what they were signing up for. She had high praise for Tyler Carnley, Dalton Spears, Matthew Beasley, Noah Gooden, Michal Quan, Cody Bullard, Parker, Engeln, Dylan Doulin, Rosemary Bass and Abigail Lee, all of whom volunteered Tuesday.

“It was 100 degrees when they were moving this stuff,” Spears said.

The organization’s new space on South Three Notch is 4,500 square feet, Spears said. In contrast, the Meredith’s Miracles’ thrift store currently has approximately 975 square feet of usable area.

“When we move, the thrift store will have around 2,473 square feet. We are banking on taking on more onations. The thrift shop has done really well so it was time to expand.

Meredith’s Miracles provides assistance with non-medical expenses for families who must travel out-of-town for specialty medical care. The thrift store is one of its fundraising arms. It also raises money with its annual Cookies with Characters event, and its Valentine’s store, as well as a fish fry.

The thrift store will open in its new location in late June, and a grand opening is planned in July.
