Ensight Eyecare and Wyatt Sasser Construction announced on Thursday plans to build new medical offices on the west bypass between Bailey’s Pharmacy and Splash Hopper Car Wash.
Dr. James Barton, owner of Ensight Eyecare, said he and Sasser are working with an architect on preliminary drawings for the office, which he plans to occupy by January.
“We had the land surveyed, and we have room to build about 25,000 square feet of space,” he said. “There’s not a lot of retail space available in Andalusia. We hope to put together a collection of medical neighbors.”
At present, Barton and Sasser, who are partnering for the project, plan to build two offices initially, and leave room to add additional buildings.
As for the Ensight office, Barton said, “We want to have enough room to grow. As anyone who has been to our office can attest, we are out of space, and literally utilizing closets now. We want to spread out a little bit, and be in position to bring in an associate optometrist if the demand warrants its.”
The new facility also will have more retail space for eyeglasses, and the office will be more tech driven, he said.
