Pleasant Home advances to regionals

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles clinched a spot in the South regional in Gulf Shores with a win over Red Level on Tuesday in the Class 1A, Area 2 tournament in Pleasant Home.
Ava Bailey got the start in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Eagles.
The first batter grounded out to Amy Kate Bulger at third base for the first out.
Bailey got the next batter to ground out to Bella Worley at shortstop for the second out of the contest.
Bailey finished off the frame with a strikeout.
Molly Martin was the starting pitcher for Red Level and she got the first batter to pop out to Maggie Wilkerson behind the plate.
Martin followed the pop out with a strikeout for the second out of the inning.
With two outs in the inning, Hope Gunter laced a pitch up the middle for the first hit of the game.
Martin then walked Bulger and Emily Taylor to load the bases.
Pleasant Home got on the board when Worley drew a bases-loaded walk.
Martin got out of the jam with a fly ball to K Ayers in right field.
In the top of the second inning, Bailey got the first batter to ground out to Worley at shortstop.
Worley fired to Taylor at first for the first out of the inning.
Bailey then struck out the next two batters to end the frame.
In the bottom of the second inning, Ansley Johnson drew a walk to get things started for the Lady Eagles.
Johnson moved to second on a wild pitch and up to third on passsed ball.
Daisy Cordle then drew a walk to give the Lady Eagles runners at the corners.
Worley then drove in Johnson with a ground out.
Natalie Schwartz drew a walk and then a couple of passed balls allowed Cordle and Shrwartz to score on passed balls to put Pleasant Home up 4-0.
A few batters later, the Lady Eagles struck gold when Bailey drove in a pair of runs with a triple to right center field to give Pleasant Home a 7-0 lead.
Brianna Knoll came in to courtesy run for Bailey and came around to score on a passed ball.
After two innings of play, the Lady Eagles were on top 8-0.
Bailey started off the top of the third inning with a strikeout for the first out.
Bailey then got a quick ground out for the second out of the inning.
With two outs in the frame, Alexis Perdue picked up the first hit of the game for the Lady Tigers when she ripped a single to center.
K Lord followed with a single and then a single from Mariah Crowell loaded up the bases.
Bailey stayed calm as she struck out the next batter to stifle the threat.
In the bottom of the third inning, Worley reached off of an error and then came around to score on a single from Gunter.
Another error from the Lady Tigers then allowed Gunter to score for a 10-0 Pleasant Home lead.
A few batters later, Cordle ripped a double to center field that put the Lady Eagles up 14-0.
The Lady Eagles were then able to tack on an additional run to end the game via mercy rule after three innings of play.
