Florala Wildcats top Elba, clinch playoff spot

The Florala Wildcats took an early lead, and held off a late rally from Elba to win 10-9 and clinch their first playoff spot since 2015.
Elba got a one-out single in the top of the first inning, but the Wildcats erased the runner with a double play.
In the top of the second inning, Caleb Wood got the first two batters to pop out before striking out the third batter.
Logan West drew a walk with one out in the bottom of the second inning and moved to second when Nealand Stone was hit by a pitch.
Florala grabbed the lead when Hunter Truman ripped a two-run double.
Lee Stewart moved Truman over to third with a single and then Truman scored on a double steal.
Elba got a couple of base runners to start the top of the third inning, but Wood retired the next three batters to end the threat.
West showed patience at the plate as he drew another walk to start the bottom of the third inning.
Stone then followed with a single to put the Wildcats in business.
Truman came through with another RBI hit and then a run-scoring single from Stewart put Florala up 5-0.
Wood moved Truman to third with a single.
Justin Paul then drove in Truman and Stewart to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead.
A few pitches later, Wood came in to score on a passed ball.
Elba had trouble catching the ball as Paul scored on another passed ball to put the Wildcats up 9-0.
Elba scratched through with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, West again showed knowledge of the strike zone as he drew yet another walk.
With West reaching on his third walk, Truman took advantage of another RBI opportunity as he drove in West for a 10-2 lead.
Elba battled back and plated six runs in the top of the fifth inning and one run in the top of the seventh inning.
The Wildcats came up clutch with a fly ball for the final out as the Tigers stranded the tying run at third base.
