The Andalusia Bulldogs’ soccer team came away with a big 10-0 win over Goshen on Tuesday night in Andalusia.
Andalusia came out of the gate firing on all cylinders as they quickly built a lead.
Reese Burkhardt was big for the Bulldogs in the first half as he notched four goals.
Gage Theus was equally as impressive as he also picked up four first half goals to help the Bulldogs take a huge lead.
Andalusia also got big goals from Dawson Kennedy and Colin Taylor to finish off the 10-0 win.
Even though the game was technically over due to mercy rule, both coaches agreed to continue playing the second half.
Michael Little was big for the Bulldogs in the second half as he managed two goals for Andalusia.
“I challenged the guys yesterday to come out compete, have heart and never give up,” Andalusia head coach Ray Bozeman said. “They did that. They played best and most complete game that we have played all year.”
On Monday night, the Bulldogs moved to the top spot in the region after knocking off Charles Henderson 5-1.
“We won a big game against Charles Henderson to put us at No. 1 in the region right now,” Bozeman said. “I think the No. 1 thing was coming out today playing a non-region opponent, a team that we’ve already beat, I just challenged them to not worry about who they are play and just focus on Andalusia. Make sure they came out, didn’t have any let downs and played just as hard in the is match as they did last night in a game that had playoff implications. They did that tonight.”
Andalusia will play Carroll at home on Friday in a match that could determine the region championship.
“Carroll has beaten Charles Henderson and we have one win against everybody in the region now,” Bozeman said. “If we can come out and play like we played yesterday and today, we could get a win against Carroll and that pretty much is going to put us in the driver’s seat. One of our goals every year is to win the region. Our goal is always to host the first round of the playoffs. I think our key Friday is going to be continue playing like we have the last two games. These kids haven’t had any quit in them. It hasn’t mattered if we were up, down or tied. We have to keep playing like that.”
